Hotel Bodega El Juncal. Ronda.
El lugar
A 1 km de Ronda se encuentra este magnífico hotel rural que es, a la vez, centro de producción de vinos de Bodegas Lunares. Un hotel de pocas habitaciones, tranquilo y rodeado de viñedos. Antes de acometer el diseño y una vez oído cuales eran los distintos espacios de éste, se hizo un exhaustivo reconocimiento del estado de árboles y arbustos existentes en el antiguo hotel clausurado durante varios años y qué elementos vegetales había que restaurar o eliminar.
Los anteriores jardines estaban desaparecidos o en muy malas condiciones
Bajo la premisa básica de «máximo efecto y mínimo gasto», se comenzó el diseño de remodelación de los exteriores. El anterior hotel conservaba aún unos magníficos cipreses y dos cedros, además de algunos alcornoques, plátanos, chopos, olivos, un pinsapo y un madroño, muchos de éstos deteriorados por falta de podas adecuadas y plagas que había que sanear y revitalizar convenientemente. Así mismo, el estrato arbustivo y de plantas vivaces había prácticamente desaparecido, al igual que el césped de la piscina. Los cipreses estaban fuertemente infestados del pulgón específico de éstos “Cinara cupressi”, y del hongo Phytophtora, que se trataron convenientemente.
Nuevas plantas preferentemente de flores blancas
Los arbustos y vivaces que se introdujeron fueron básicamente de flor blanca para potenciar el efecto relajante de este color en un espacio destinado primordialmente al descanso y eventos nocturnos en las cálidas noches de verano. Entre las plantas destacamos: adelfa de flor blanca, rosa de flor blanca «Iceberg», Agapanthus «Albiflora», Gaura lindheimeri «Alba», Erigeron karvinskianus, Viburnum tinus entre otras.

The place
1 km from Ronda is this magnificent rural hotel that is, at the same time, the wine production center of Bodegas Lunares. A hotel with few rooms, quiet and surrounded by vineyards. Before undertaking the design and after hearing what the different spaces were, an exhaustive examination was made of the state of trees and shrubs existing in the old hotel, which had been closed for several years, and what plant elements had to be restored or eliminated.
The previous gardens were missing or in very poor condition
Under the basic premise of «maximum effect and minimum expense», the outside remodeling design began. The previous hotel still kept some magnificent cypress trees and two cedars, as well as some cork oaks, plane trees, poplars, olive trees, one native fir Abies pinsapo and one strawberry tree, many of these deteriorated due to lack of proper pruning and pests that had to be properly cleaned up and revitalized. Likewise, the shrub layer and perennial plants had practically disappeared, as had the grass of the pool. The cypresses were heavily infested with the cypress-specific aphid “Cinara cupressi” and the Phytophtora fungus, which were appropriately treated.
The new plants preferntly with white flowers
The shrubs and perennials that were introduced were basically white-flowered to enhance the relaxing effect of this color in a space intended primarily for resting and nocturnal events on warm summer nights.
